I'm so glad to be back...!!

by 4MyLove » Tue Jun 01, 2004 3:40 pm

I am addicted to a wine,

Very old ,secure in a barrel in my room,

And I drink it morn & night.

It was long ago ,when I picked it up, this addiction

When I was loitering in a lonely street, lined with

Apples & choicest grape trees & a few beautiful,

Very beautiful grape picking girls;

I gazed at them & my stare met the hazel eyes of one.

A moment it was ,but a millenenium it seemed,

Her eyes ,her drunken intoxicated ,excited eyes,

Oh! eyes thet enchanted me;

A split second ,only a split second later she extended her loving hand to me;

And I, and I held them, soft & drunken as they were.

But then she withdrew it,again in a split second

And then produced an ornate glass with wine in it.

Oh!I drunk it,

Oh! abigger folly than eve of eden fame did I commit.

She's been with me since then,forcing me to drink ;

Drink more,forget the world more,

And think only of looking for more wine to fill that damned barrel.

I am still loitering in "still lonely streets"

Dead ,but alive,drunken forsaken forgotten.

Oh! Ambitions the name ,

The name of the cruel seductress ,

The witch who gave me the maddening wine of success.
- The guilt of the kiss is not in the lips, but in its bliss...

From the movie "Hacker on the roof"

If I had a SCSI

[ spoken ]

Oh dear Lord:

you made many, many small systems.

I realise, of course, that it's no shame to be last year's model,

(*sigh*) but it's no great honour either.

So what would have been *so* terrible

if I'd had just a ...

... small ...

... upgrade?

[ sung ]

If I had a SCSI

(yava dava dava duva duva dava dava dum)

All day long I'd vidi vidi vroom

If I had a SCSI card ---

My CPU would work hard

(yava dava dava duva duva dava dava dum)

If I had a very wide and fast

None too idle SCSI interface.

I'd have a big tall box with bays by the dozen

Room for the biggest disc in town

By my side or down on the floor below;

There would be one big dump tape just backing up

And one even longer winding down

And one more just retensioning for show ...

I'd get new backplane I/O cards for the empty slots

Which would suddenly appear

'Blaster Pro with speakers on either side

And every moused-up scratch and crackle and fart

Would land like the Last Trump on the ear

Proclaiming: Eat your heart out, SGI ...

(ah yes)

If I had a SCSI

(yava dava dava duva duva dava dava dum)

All day long I'd vidi vidi vroom

If I had a SCSI card ---

My CPU would work hard

(yava dava dava duva duva dava dava dum)

If I had a very wide and fast

Never idle SCSI interface.

I see my man, my user, making like a real house freak

With a proper swivel chair!

FTPing source to his heart's delight;

I see him hacking in Perl and TeXing like a guru

Joy! on his face I do declare

Screaming at the servers day and night ...

The most respected benchmark tests

Would all be run on me

My speed it will surprise them

This system really flies ...

If you please, calculate this sum

Pardon me, calculate this sum

With precision that would cross a Cray Five's wires ---

Norton SpeedIndex, SpecFP, SpecI/O, yo ...

But I need only measure times to within

An order of magnitude or so

For ten times bugger all's still bugger all ...

And I would have the space and time that I'd like

With kernel development to play

And maybe have my own special system call,

Andf I'd compile the Holy Source with the latest hacks

Seven hours every day,

And that would be the sweetest thing of all ...

(ah yes)

If I had a SCSI

(yava dava dava duva duva dava dava dum)

All day long I'd vidi vidi vroom

If I had a SCSI card ---

My CPU would work hard

(yava dava dava duva duva dava dava dum)

Lord who gave me sixteen meg of RAM

You left me configured as I am

Need you pull some planet-shafting scam

If I had a SCSI card?

:P :P :P :P :P

got a really good book recently with loads of anti-war poems in it, this was one of them, by Yehuda Amichai. Its called "The Diameter of the Bomb"

The diameter of the bomb was thirty centimeters

and the diameter of its effective range about seven meters,

with four dead and eleven wounded.

And around these, in a larger circle

of pain and time, two hospitals are scattered

and one graveyard. But the young woman

who was buried in the city she came from,

at a distance of more than a hundred kilometers,

enlarges the circle considerably,

and the solitary man mourning her death

at the distant shores of a country far across the sea

includes the entire world in the circle.

And I won’t even mention the crying of orphans

that reaches up to the throne of God and

beyond, making

a circle with no end and no God.

prose poetry

by forgiven » Wed Aug 04, 2004 11:58 am

i dont know if this kind of writing would be appreciated as poetry or as prose. but then, its here.

Well. Being raised as a hindu, I was told that civilisations destroy only to be built again and thats the destiny, but how far it is true, I have no clue.

Destiny

If I had to believe

Would end my life

Here in your arms.

Fate, I do.

God Inc.

Spiritual capitalism

Selfless materialism

Ecstatic sadness

Eternal youth

Funeral pyre

Unconditional love

Mother’s womb

And everything unmentioned

We can’t change what is written for us

Can we?

If I could rewrite

Or had to

I had already posted this in another thread :

A Broken Wing

She loved him like he was
The last man on Earth
Gave him everything she ever had
He'd break her spirit down
Then come loving up on her
Give a little, then take it back
She'd tell him about her dreams
He'd only shoot them down
Lord he loved to make her cry
"You're crazy for believing you'll ever leave the ground,"
He said, "Only angels know how to fly."

And with a broken wing
She still sings
She keeps an eye on the sky
And with a broken wing
She carries her dreams
Man, you ought to see her fly

One Sunday morning, she didn't go to church
He wondered why she didn't leave
He went up to the bedroom
Found a note by the window
With the curtain blowing in the breeze

And with a broken wing
She still sings
She keeps an eye on the sky
And with a broken wing
She carries her dreams
Man, you ought to see her fly

With a broken wing
She carries her dreams
Man, you ought to see her fly

By Martina McBride

out of the blue, it was created......

I haven't seen him for quite sometime

I felt so bullshit...but last nyt was different

Trying so hard to be cool,

trying so hard to move far,

trying to avoid his stare

that gives me the creeps...

gives the chill that i both love and i hate to feel.

We weren't friends,

he was my friend's friend

He called me as one

But i won't consider it as such

Things can become too complicated

that I'm afraid,

i might fall

That i dont even want to return his call.

But then... stranger as strange

I couldn't help myself

there was this longing...

part of me was hoping...

that a 10 year acquintance could do better

than this

I blame the nyt before i had this day

Hearing his words about something

i never though he would say...

damn, i feel so stupid...

i didn't make the move...

How i wish it wasn't me he was talking with

How i wish i wasn't sitting right next to him

How i wish we weren't there,

pouring each others heart...

shutting our eyes over fog lights...

looking down at the empty road...

Because.........

If there hasn't been a night like that...

i would sleep peacefully tonight...

and i wouldn't have to worry...

when can i see his snob smile...

and hope to run with him for another mile...

with a chill i love and i hate to feel.

eeeerrnn......to keep my goin on :)

MY COMFORT ZONE

I used to have a comfort zone where I knew I wouldn't fail.

The same four walls and busywork were really more like jail.

I longed so much to do the things I'd never done before,

But stayed inside my comfort zone and paced the same old floor.

I said it didn't matter that I wasn't doing much.

I said I didn't care for things like commission checks and such.

I claimed to be so busy with the things inside the zone,

But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.

I couldn't let my life go by just watching others win.

I held my breath; I stepped outside and let the change begin.

I took a step and with new strength I'd never felt before,

I kissed my comfort zone goodbye and closed and locked the door.

If you're in a comfort zone, afraid to venture out,

Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.

A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true.

Reach for your future with a smile; success is there for you!

In Paradise

by Pete » Mon Apr 11, 2005 11:17 pm

I’m a butterfly fluttering here and there,

I’m an eagle trying to breach the skies…

I'm a lion strolling through the lawns of freedom,

My free spirit envisions thy gifts for us, as paradise.

Along the great oceans, and across the continents,

I wish to drift and fly, wander aimless…

Is there a power that can hold me back?

There is none…trying to stop me is fruitless.

I beseech thee, oh mystic heavens,

I’ve never been in one, ever before…

I now know where to head for,

My free spirit takes me ashore.

I’m almost there, my soul cries out,

Slowly, but surely, my shackles are broken…

My bonds and attachments are no more now,

Here I am, a free spirit…my soul, my entity totally shaken.

Alas! If only I knew what paradise was!

It was for my taking, all along my pitiful life…

Little did I realize a human spirit is born free,

And now, finally, my soul is free from strife…

In paradise…in paradise…at last, in paradise.

Never Again...

by Pete » Mon Apr 11, 2005 11:31 pm

Never again will I trust someone, never again will I trust,

Never again will I love someone, but what if I must?

Never knew what lay ahead, love was always a one way street,

People I loved closed the doors on me, scattered souls, never to meet.

My spirit was always a mushroom in the rain,

That springs out of the earth in hope, hoping something from life to gain,

So did my love for her gushed out of my heart,

But unlike the mushroom, keeps staying alive…oh, tears me apart!

Deep down inside, I realized things which I considered insane,

Would come back to haunt me, over and over again.

No love can now fill my heart, nor can a soul cause me pain,

My life is free again, but scarred with many a stain.

The moments I had with you, now seem like a distant dream,

My love fought hard to stay afloat, but got washed away by the stream.

Do not judge me my love, I know I had it all wrong,

But know that I indeed loved you once, only my actions were never strong.

How can I escape this heartache, how can I ever hope to love?

I hope you are spared of this pain, I pray to the heavens above.

I know I have to move on, someday this pain must die,

I know my spirit would rise again, to reach for the stars way up high.

***************************

Dedicated to all those heartaches out there...

Love & Relationships

by Pete » Mon Apr 11, 2005 11:42 pm

There are so many dimensions to love, relationships...affairs; sometimes its so hard to comprehend the way our lives shape up. The biggest thing in life...or lets say in love, situations, and the way you react to them and handle them makes the difference. It holds good even to guys who were 'supposedly' in love for a long period of time.

Well, I guess I'm allowing myself to get carried away...may be its just the nostalgia inside my head which pops up whenever I try some poetry. Or, may be my poetic muse thrives in pain.

Current reflection:  ...yeah-yeah, whatever.

my dreams

by veni » Tue Jun 28, 2005 2:14 pm

Dreams that are scary
As black and gloomy as they can be
Is it just me?
Or is something trying to imply
Tell me that this is not right

Things have changed
And are changing too fast
All at the cost of my sanity
That I can’t understand
Understand why or how?

All I know
At the end of everything
Anything that happened
Or is yet to happen
I am alone.

I am all by myself
Thinking about what I have done
And what I should do
Tears come to me as easily as my thoughts
The true peace lies in embracing them.

Eventually
It is just me
My actions and me
My thoughts and me
Because I should reason with myself and win.

between the soul and the shadow

by To Veni » Sat Jul 02, 2005 8:07 pm

Shadows,

Eternal wisdom

Reflections,

Unknown Light

Rainbows abandoned

Arrows adopted

Mouth shut lips,

Slivers unholy…

Embrace,

Helical snakes

Pitch blended,

Splintered to life

Spirits,

Pleasure gambled

Corners,

Soul Wailed

Truth,

Lies Seduced

Hues,

Depressed blues

....as BLACK as it can be...

My favourite poem:

She walks in beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that 's best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes:

Thus mellow'd to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

Had half impair'd the nameless grace

Which waves in every raven tress,

Or softly lightens o'er her face;

Where thoughts serenely sweet express

How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win, the tints that glow,

But tell of days in goodness spent,

A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love is innocent!

- Lord Byron

........and here's me favourite poem too

How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count The Ways

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

I love thee to the depth and breadth and height

My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight

For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.

I love thee to the level of everyday's

Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.

I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;

I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.

I love thee with the passion put to use

In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.

I love thee with a love I seemed to lose

With my lost saints,—I love thee with the breath,

Smiles, tears, of all my life!—and, if God choose,

I shall but love thee better after death.

Reasons

by veni » Sun Jul 03, 2005 5:53 pm

Reasons… :!:

Sometimes necessary…sometimes useless…

They are worthwhile

When they are reasons

Don’t ask me why how and when,

Because I can never find a reason . . .

Something that is true . . .

Even though every single one is for me . . .

It should be the same to you.

Don’t ask anyone why . . .

Because whatever the reason might be . . .

It will just seem untrue . . .

Even though it makes sense . . .

It isn’t understood.

Life is a bunch of excuses.

Which are again reasons . . .

Reasons born out of helplessness . . .

Because nothing else,

Nor can anything else come close to “the answer”
