Kisna music - Text book classical and Rhythmic

Only Arrahman could match-up the expectations that Subhash Ghai had set for his new film Kisna as the letter by Subhash Ghai in the CD summarises. Apparenly Rahman became really busy with his international assignments to finish his project with Ghai and the director chose Ismail Darbar - as the only alternative who could produce numbers of Rahman's starndards.

As usual i purchased the CD the same the cartons were opened. 48 hrs since purchase, the music has started to grow. Kisna presents an interesting combination. Rahman's Kisna theme is repeated 3 times in a piano only,chorus and the heavy mode. Added to that he has composed the theme song 'Hum hai is pal kahaan..'. Same tune with lyrics added. The theme is not very impressive and repeatetive hearing can bore you unless you are a nuances freak..The only other number composed by Rahman is an english song ( much like the Lagaan one). This one sounds international with lot of philarmonic touch and Grandeur . Over all a simple and easy deal for Rahman.

What makes Kisna's soundtrack interesting is how Ismail darbar maintains the Rahmanish feel to his compositions. The bass notes, the use of 'cling-clanks' etc is a departure for Ismail bhai from his Laxmikant Pyarelal type larger than life extravanganza to a more modern feel. Which is good, but i am sure it is not typical Ismail darbar.

Ismail has incorporated his typical alaap and taal ( not the film!) fillers and the use of classical music percussions, with the rahman style bass and harmony. One such number is Aham Bhramasmi, notice the way rhythm has been programmed.

Clearly Subhash Ghai was hell bent on getting the Rahman touch and he much have clobbered Ismail to deliver!. At the end we have a good blend of both sides of music worth purchasing.

Buy only if you can allow songs to grow on you. There is no chewing gum type item number!

I ti not a bad buy at all. Its worth the cash if u are the sorta guy who likes good music with good rhythm and lyrics...

HOw much time did it take to download the album ?

And what's the net connection u use Der ??

It takes ages and ages for me :-(

(even though i got in touch with torrents recently, I have been using kazaa lite, emule, winmx for quite sometime now)

I tried to download the Tracy Chapman album collection (5 albums, i guess) and the total size was around 280 MB or so. And till date, I have been able to download only 107 MB (that is after two months!!!!!!!)

umm...i feel tht ar rahman is a unique musiz director...in da beginnin i

like hiz musiz...but later on it doeznt seem tht impressive.. :roll:

Kulcha stopped posting after the DBs changed to its present format. BM just pps up now n then with an urdu shayari
