fh.com bug

Hi,

This is for the site programmers.

At times while using IE to browse the DB's, clicking on the Discussions Home link kills the application. Could you please look into this?

This has been occuring since a while now.......what happens is that when a page reaches 25 posts, a new page is automatically created but it contains no posts, hence the error.......

There's no set pattern that I see here. It just happens at times when I click on the Discussions Home link from any page on the boards.

i navigated to quite a few pages (incl the DB) and the explorer didnt crash...

but many of the pages had an error while loading. the status bar displayed the msg "Done, but with errors on page". double clicking the warning icon displayed the following detail (among others): Error: Object Expected

maybe this is causing the crash in HP's PC coz the browser is not set to handle some exceptions.

..or maybe the error i mentioned is being caused by some local browser config in my PC....patha nai

And this is exactly why the smart people do not use IE :D.

Anyway, HP that problem seems only specific to you. Perhaps it has something to do with the settings you have on your IE. I have browsed FH extensively using Firefox (God bless the souls behind this browser!), Netscape 7+, IE (5.5+), and Opera 7+. Never had any such issue.

I do remember now! I had a similar issue with IE. But that was not site-specific. For some reason unknown to humanity my IE used to crash in Windows XP. It worked fine in Windows 98. It does not crash anymore. I re-formatter the hard drive :D.

Moral of the story: IE sucks. If you still want to use it, format your hard drive every few weeks.

Unless you work for Microsoft or its subsidiary, this is not really an issue.

I too use FF, but only at home. I face no probs wht so ever. At office I am not allowed to use it, so cant help it. FF seems to be much more faster than IE. and the best part: No ads!! :D
People are crazy, at times are strange. I am locked-in tight, I am out of range.
I used to care, but things have changed.

I would have thought on the same lines as CAD had I not been accessing the boards from different cybercafes and different computers. But I've been facing this problem every now and then on different computers.

And I did see a pattern to this today. This crash occurs when there is an older version of Yahoo messenger running on the system. Dunno what the relation is though.

I logged in at 7pm. Posted a message. Logged in again at 11 pm but I didn't find any updated messages (neither mine nor the others) on the Boards.

Problem at my end (with my system) or the other ?

The source code is as open as anyone should need it to be. It is the HTML that comes to your browsers anyway. Just view the source. It does not matter what the backend script does because the application seems to be killed soon as some link is clicked on. It has to be a javascript issue, if it is an issue with the code at all.
