All 17 seriel buses go via Arcot Road.

Kodambakkam Railway station is closer to North Usman Road (T.Nagar)

For namesake it is Kodambakkam. Otherwise it is northern part of T.Nagar only.

YOU SHOULD HAVE TRAVELLED BY BUS.

Anyway its OK.

I got down off the train and there were two exits on either side....I asked a Gent Which one weas nearer to Arcot Road and he Curtly Replied "English Teriyaadu" Hindid also Did'nt Wash.....Till a Kind lady showed me the way and it turned out to be a 3 Km Walk and that too over the same Flyover Covering the Railway Tracks I came all the way around the track when oneside would have done it

Vaishno Devi Pilgrims Still Prefer The Road Route
Udhampur station is more than 40 minutes away from Katra town, base camp for the shrine

UDHAMPUR: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway 1 A continues to be the most popular route for Vaishno Devi pilgrims reaching here, even after the inauguration of the Jammu-Udhampur railway line. Tourists, too, prefer to take the road for logistical reasons.

The 55-km railway line was inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on April 13. The ceremony was attended by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.

The railway route was expected to become the lifeline for over six million pilgrims thronging Katra in Udhampur district every year. But even after a month since the district appeared on the railway map, it has failed to catch the imagination of the pilgrims.

Two factors — terrain and logistics — are responsible.

The Udhampur railway station is more than 40 minutes away from Katra town, base camp of the Vaishno Devi Shrine, the time taken by pilgrims to reach Katra by the National Highway after disembarking at the Jammu railway station.

The Jammu station has better tourist infrastructure. There are private buses and taxis that operate through out the day to Katra.

It's a sobering thought that a combination of bacteria and the Brits gave the country its hill stations. Ironically, they will soon be sucked dry by Indians themselves.

APPARENTLY India is the only country in the world with hill stations. This is not, of course, because other countries don't have little towns perched on their mountains, but because "hill station" is by definition an Indian refuge from the heat of its plains, with a colonial history behind it. ...

The hill station's raison d'etre, created by the British, is the climatic disaster zone below it. Historians of colonialism who blame everything on the Brits don't like to think too hard about how valuable this creation is when wangling themselves summer sojourns in Shimla. Comfortable havens can be uncomfortable facts of history: alongside the English language, the British legacy that middle-class Indians most crave is a mountainous ivory tower removed from the depravity of May and the insanity of June at sea level. ...

This is specially so if you're on your way to Shimla, which, like Bangalore, was once classifiable as a hill station and has now degenerated into a water-scarce, messed-up state capital. Right now, every Indian seems to be on his way there. Consequently, one of the things that doesn't quite run uphill, but which huffs and puffs painfully up like a dragon with severe arthritis, is the hill train that runs from Kalka to Shimla, lugging the ascending hordes. The tracks on which this toy train daily labours, winding its way through 103 tunnels, were finally completed precisely a hundred years ago, in 1903, so this may be a good time to finally call it a day, stop that wretchedly slow train, and thus prevent more Indians flooding Shimla and killing it. Permanent residents of Shimla, like those of Bangalore, are certainly keen on some solution to the urban overgrowth that has stifled their homes. They are, of course, doomed. In this era of illiberal, plebeian democracy, there is little space for the preservation of architectural heritage, only room for multi-storeyed `development'. ...

The route to Sunabeda (Where HAL is Located) Goes thru Semiliguda and it is an Important Hub for Traffic.My Friends USed to Change Two Buses and One had to wait From 12 Midnight to 5 AM for Getting a Connexion Bus. In Summers it is ok,but in winters one can get to see Campfires all around and People Huddled Around it.

Heavy Mineral-Bearing Beach Placer Deposit: India is possessing vast coastal tract of about 6000 Line Kms. along the eastern and western seaboards, covering coastal states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala on the west coast and Tamilnadu, Pondicherry (UT), Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal on the east coast. India has large reserves of beach sand minerals, such as ilmenite, rutile, leucoxene, zircon, monazite, sillimanite and garnet. These deposits are mostly located in the coastal stretches of peninsular India, with the exception of few inland placer deposits, like Ranchi-Purlia riverine placers of Bihar and Teri sands of Tamilnadu. Ilmenite is the largest constituent of the Indian beach sand deposits, followed by sillimanite and garnet.

Beach Sand Deposits of Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh is possessing vast coastal stretches of about 970 L.Kms exclusive of Yanam of Pondicherry state (30 L.Kms), out of which 663 L.Kms were explored both by detailed and reconnaissance surveys. The coverage is only 68% and still about 307 L.Kms are yet to be surveyed lies between Kakinada and further south upto Tamilnadu border. The entire coast line of Yanam covering 30 L.Kms is yet to be surveyed. The exploration input in Andhra Pradesh brought to light as many as 29 occurrences out of which the beach sand deposits north of Visakhapatnam and upto Orissa border is commercially important due to the mineral assemblage of this sector.

The important deposits are 1) Bhimunipatnam 2)Kalingapatnam 3) Koyyam 4) Bhavanapadu and 5) Kakinada . The ilmenite reserves of Andhra Pradesh is about 79 MT.

Hill Stations : Kullu Manali ...: Nestled in the Kullu valley in Himachal Pradesh lies the picturesque town of Manali. Situated at a height of 1915 meters above sea level, Manali is surrounded by a canopy of Deodar trees. Manali has been a popular destination for honeymooners and for adventure sport fanatics as it offers a plethora of options that include trekking, mountaineering, rafting and skiing. The name "Manali" has an interesting story behind it. The name is derived from Manavalaya, which literally means the abode of Manu. According to traditional Hindu mythology Manu was the only survivor of the great flood and is the father of mankind. It is said that the beautiful environs of Manali were where he resided, hence the name.

While in Manali one can savor not only the majestic scenery but also the numerous temples and the colorful handicrafts of the local people. Beyond the valley at an height of 13,050 feet above sea level lies Rohtang Pass. This area has been well developed as a skiing facility during winter.

The Kullu valley itself is divided by the Beas River. It is 80 km long and 2 km wide. In ancient times Kullu was known as Kulanthpitha, which means the end of the habitable world. The Kullu valley is also known as the valley of the Gods as every village has its own deity. These deities are represented by silver or brass masks usually kept locked up and displayed only on festive occasions. If it is possible the best time to visit the valley is during the Dussehra festival held in October. All the deities are paraded through the town in lavishly decorated palanquins. On the first and seventh day of the festival the procession of palanquins is led by the Chariot of Lord Raghunathji, the supreme God of the valley. The festivities end with the burning of a huge effigy of Ravana on the banks of the Beas.
