YERCAUD HILL STATION

by Sri » Sun May 22, 2005 9:07 pm

Today I got the wonderful opportunity to visit this Hill Resort.

The base for Yercaud is none other than Salem City.

Today morning we started from Salem city.

If you reach by train, just in front of the railway-building city buses keep coming.

They all go to The new Bus Stand

From the new bus stand today there buses in every fifteen minutes.

All were summer specials. They charge just Rs 12/-

Immediately after coming out of the city with in around 8 KMs the Ghat road starts.

Today at the entry point to the ghat section there were huge group of persons standing and distributing the paper made bags. They told they belong to Salem green City Association

Lots and lots of monkeys were wandering along the roadsides.

They were plenty of Hair Pin Bends in the Roads.

I could see lots of tourists travelling in two wheelers, even in TVS scooty.

It took one and half-hours for the bus to reach the Yercaud lake which is at 32 KMs from Salem city.

There were so many taxis and autos waiting.

For three hour taxi guys ask Rs350/- But they come down to 300/-

Since we were only two we hired a auto for Rs200/- foe two and half hours ride.

Initially it went to the Ladies seat point.

On its way I could see plenty of missionaries buildings.

Providence hospital,

LMM. Heart of Mary’s convent

St Francis home,

Holy Cross Novitiate,

St Louis villa provincial house,

Wonderful Mont ford School and churches. Etc etc

The weather was ok. Pleasant.

Ladies seat is just a viewpoint. You can see the whole Salem city from there.

There is a telescope point, which has an old Taiwanese CELESTRAN telescope, for which they charge Rs5/-

Nearby you have similar viewpoints like GENTS SEAT and Children’s seat

Not much difference.

Below that rose gardens. You could walk through the good walking tracks.

From there we crossed to the other side of the town.

We proceeded to the Raja Rajeswari temple. This is a simple Hindu temple.

HH Swamy Poornananda founded it in the year sixties.

There is a good natural shop which sells all varieties of herbal medicines and perfumes.

Then we proceeded towards the wonderful SERVAROYAN HILL TOP AND TEMPLE.

This is at still at higher level. AT 2100 meters above sea level.

It was extremely pleasant climate wise.

We spent one hour there.

Oh my god such cool winds .

Surprisingly it is a Hindu vaishnav SMALL CAVE TEMPLE.

The god is inside a tunnel.

The positive point of Yercaud is the plantations.

You could see lots and lots of

Pepper
Orange
Coffee plantations.

Bi friends, try this Hill resort at least once.

Hi,
I voluntarily accept some projects. Basically I like traveling. So I take whatever deputation available in the hospital.
This suits other doctors as well as myself. You know most of the idiots(doctors) don’t want to get out of Hyderabad. Not even from their chairs. Infact I love traveling. In broad sense I travel in government expense.

Do u really travel or just copy paste articles here from other travel sites?

This is very unfortunate. I told you I love traveling. I love to meet different sections of people.

yesterday i returned to Chennai by Rockfort express.

At this second I am sitting in the reliance web world in Mount road chennai near Anand Theater.

Sri,Howz the Bus services in Chennai?

Bus services are more crowded. In this month of May it may be very difficult to travel by bus.

Well Connected?

I believe every nook and corners of the City are connected.

And I heard the Auto Ricks are Helluva Cheaters.....Is it Correct?

They don’t understand Hindi. They start with very high rates. Then slowly come down.
If you travel regularly you wont get cheated.
I think they are better than the auto drivers if Delhi.
Few years ago one auto bastard abused me near cannaught place with out any mistake from my side.
Unfortunately chennai has got a wrong name in Indian scenario.
I think Chennaiites are very basically neither selfish, nor cunning, nor dominating.

I keep coming to chennai since I belong to Chitoor district.
I can speak Tamil.

I may have to go there next week,Kodambakkam to be exact.Dunno how to proceed
I had been to Chennai twice in the past.Once a Small Stopover en route to bangalore and the second time on a School Excursion. So never Experienced the 'Real' Chennai as an Outsider.Kodambakkam's the reason why Chennai Movie Industry is called Kollywood,I heard.Any Idea abt how to get there from Chennai Central?

Just Infront of Chennai central station there is a PRE PAID AUTO STAND controlled by police guys.
They charge nominally. I think they may charge almost 70 rupees, since Kodampakkam is far away.

Otherwise if you come infront of the Central station and if you cross the Road through the SUB WAY(plenty of them in Chennai city) you will see the gigantic Chennai medical college buildings.
Infront of these buildings There is a long long bus stop over there.

You can board 17 SERIEL no of buses. They all go to VADAPALANI which is Kodampakkam area only. It may cost you just 6 rupees.

And By ur Explanation,Yercaud Sure Souns Nice.Pity we missed it on our Excursion.Damn Panicker's

Ya, Yercaud was calm, pleasent and nice.

What about you IT Guys?.

I think IT Companies arrange picnics and costly tours for their programmers(Staff).

I beleive some companies send them to abroad also.

Is it true?

I have seen the young IT guys in Vikrampuri Satyam center

I have also seen selected young couples taking tiffin at Trupti restaurent near that Satyam centre.

You know very beutiful IT Girls.

YERCAUD:

Gone only once but once is enough to see the place.

Really compact and laidback place.Good if you have a partner and want to take leisurely strolls without the rush to see 'views'.No milling crowds or heckling touts.A short(30 km)but sweet ride up from the plains with many hairpin bends and coffee plantations.Climate is pleasant throughout and no freezing nights.Food and lodge cheap compared to other stations.

Visit:Kiliyoor falls,Ladys/Gents points, Sericulture centre and orchidarium nearby;Pagoda point.A little further off you have Shevaroy temple and Cauvery Peak--only if you are fit as climbing involved.

I stayed in Hotel Shevaroy, low-mid.Don't stay in Hotel Tamilnadu as I found the discrepancy between their rates and hotel quality ridiculous.

Cheap best fastest and frequent mode to go to Kodambakkam from Central is by LOCAL TRAIN.

just opposite to Central there is a local railway station called "Park station"

buy ticket its 5 rs. , u find every 5 mins one train , All the trains leading to Tambaram go thru kodambakkam.

Route is

park-->Egmore-->Chetpet-->Nungambakkam-->Kodambakkam-->Mambalam-->Saidapet--->Guindy--->Meenambakkam-->Tirusulam-->Tambaram

frmo there you can take auto or busto enar by place .

trust me u will reach fast this way and also no need tackle with fu**n chennai Auto drivers,

IF you ask me to catch all the rowdys in chennai in one day , I will catch all the auto walas

All 17 seriel buses go via Arcot Road.

Kodambakkam Railway station is closer to North Usman Road (T.Nagar)

For namesake it is Kodambakkam. Otherwise it is northern part of T.Nagar only.

YOU SHOULD HAVE TRAVELLED BY BUS.

Anyway its OK.

the situation's real good! the companies pamper us and treat us like Gods. we go on a picnic whenever we feel like it. since we r usually surrounded by hot gals, it is always a picnic

we get a raise every quarter and bonus twice a year. as perks we get to use the company BMW, executive jet, a leased bungalow in Jubilee Hills, interest free easy loans to buy latest electronic gadgets, free coupons to use in posh pubs and a leggy secretary.

twice a year we travel abroad, once on project work and once on company paid vacation to any place we pick from the world atlas.

The real rowdies in Chennai are the Money lenders (Pawn Brokers) spread out over every street and corner in the city.

They destroy the poor peoples life indirectly.

Mostly these marwadi guys wearing single ear rings are the real rowdies of the City.

They engage illegal activities including several crimes on poor people of the City.

They have slowly sneaked in to the southern districts of Royalu seema also.

These moneylenders are the real culprits who are to be sorted out and thrown out.
