We stay in Shyam Nagar Colony (Masab Tank), a residential colony. We stay next door to an advocate named C Vishnu Kumar.
We have no parking, and so need to park on the road. The road has a large tree, and so we try to park a bike under the tree (so that it is protected from the rain and heat).
Mr Vishnu Kumar told us about 3 weeks back to not park there since that was an area reserved for his own bike (it is outside his house's compound wall). He told us to park somewhere ahead.
That is a public road, and we did not see why he owned any part of it. We were neither parking in such a way that it was blocking entry or exit from his gate, nor in a way that was inconveniencing any one.
The next time we parked there, last week, he just dragged the bike out from that spot, and when we saw that and asked him why he was doing that, spoke in a loud voice asking us why we were parking there when he had already told us not to.
The whole act has been captured on the CCTV cameras of a house in the neighbourhood, and we have gotten a copy of it.
Now:
1. It is a legal crime to handle someone else's property without their permission - he had no right to touch our bike, far less drag it when it was on its stand, which could damage the stand and cost a few thousand rupees to fix
2. It is a legal crime to threaten someone to not park in a public place, claiming that as your own or reserved for you - it is technically encroachment
Here are some links that establish that his act is completely illegal:

There are a lot more, as a quick search on the Internet will show.
What should we expect if we go to the police?
