Telugu Diaspora - VIJAYAPRATHAM
# A great service Telugu Diaspora is doing in the field of Education in Vizianagaram District of Andhra Pradesh. This is a slice of very important work changing the lives of more than 4,000 children in 200 villages and a movement called "VIJAYAPRATHAM".

The journey of "VIJAYAPRATHAM" started in Dec 2001 taking a modus operandi and technical guidance from Pratham Mumbai Educational Institution. This programme is initiated by Dr.Srinivasa Rao Kalasapudi of New York and DR. B.S.R.Murthy of Gajapatinagaram Vizianagaram dist. ...
# Core Team : A group of highly committed and enthusiastic individuals consisting of Govt. School teachers helped in constituting, conceiving and designing teaching material such as math's, and Telugu textbook in joyful learning and low cost and no cost teaching material.

Bhesh ... SAMAIKYAMLO SAMRUDDHI SWIIKARIDDAM ... AANANDIDDAAM ... ANDARAM !

Veru ... Veru ... Yavariki Vaarey ... "Naakantey Naakey" ... Padi Gontukalu!

# If Telanagana region needs to get its statehood, it needs to get seperated from Andhra Pradesh and thus the remaining part will be Andhra Pradesh or Andhra Seema as you say.

# Rayalaseema is having rich mineral wealth. But factionists are eating that mineral wealth. In Telangana there are lot of coal and iron ore reserves. But that wealth is not utilised properly.

# Long ago Chenna Reddy had cheated the people of Telangana by merging his party in Congress. Politicians should be keenly intrested in keeping up their promises. Separate Telangana demand is from 1969. Till now separate Telangana state is not formed. Hope that that dream come true.

# What is transpiring ... doesn't bode well for the future of Andhra Pradesh. What really makes me mad is the complete reticence from all those Andhraseema politicians at these developments. Even assuming they have surrendered to the idea of separate Telangana, then what about the rights of the people of Andhraseema and their future? Don't they have responsibility to fight for them? Don't they need to think ahead and form out all the modalities of separation if it is inevitable?

I haven't seen a single plan anyhwere on how Andhraseema is going to cope without Hyderabad. People talk about Telengana as if Hyderabad belongs to Andhra. Andhra without Hyderabad will be several decades backward when compared to Telangana with Hyderabad.

On irrigation front too more trouble for Krishna/Godavari delta area , both upstream and down stream. People who complain about stalled irrigation and development projects haven’t seen anything like the one they are going to witness when vicious internecine water politics between Telangana and Andhra bring grinding halt to any irrigation projects on these rivers. The Kavery river dispute will dwarf Krishna/Godavari in comparison. I hope the separatists on both sides come with an equitable water sharing plan before the separation.

However, in the midst of all this gloom and doom, I see bright future for Andhraseema in the long run. If you look around world map, all coastal regions are relatively vibrant and prosperous. The same reason (loosing Hyderabad) that makes Andhra instantly poor will also make it strong as more cities from Tirupati to Vizag will raise from ashes and fill the gap. No coastal plains of India , not even Gujarat, has the potential of Andhra. With this separation, you can say another California of India or Shangai province of India is in making.

Bhinna Swaraalu : Telangana : Differences ...

Dr. YSR Reddy admitted difference of opinion on the issue of separate Telangana between his party and its ally, the TRS. He pointed out that the TRS had contested the elections on the plank of a separate State. "They have their own agenda and the Congress party has its own stand on the issue and history alone will tell whether a separate State is carved out of Andhra Pradesh."

He wanted all political parties to be restrained while airing their views as the subject was `sensitive'.

# T. Devender Goud (TDP) blamed Telangana leaders of all shades for ignoring the interests of the region. ... Admitting that successive Governments had failed to render justice to Telangana, Mr. Goud said political will alone could ensure development of the backward areas.

# Mr. Goud charged the TRS leaders with clinging on to power despite being treated as `unwanted' by their own Cabinet colleagues belonging to the Congress. They were `shamelessly' enjoying power, giving a go by to their struggle for a separate State, he remarked, sparking angry protests from the TRS members. They calmed down after the Chief Minister got up to defuse the situation.

Rayalaseema State Must, If Telangana Formed: Parties

by HH » Wed Apr 06, 2005 2:13 pm

Rayalaseema State Must, If Telangana Formed: Parties

If the Telangana state is formed, the Rayalaseema region would also demand a separate state which would include the Bellary district of Karnataka, various political parties asserted on Saturday.

Political parties and academics in all the four districts of Kurnool, Kadapa, Anantapur and Chittoor comprising the region have begun independent exercises to deliberate on the future of the region in the event of the Telangana state coming into being.

Various bodies have sprung up in each district to fight to protect the region’s interests. Former TDP MLA from Kurnool and an industrialist, T.G. Venkatesh has launched a forum for the rights of Rayalaseema. While Congress MP, Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy has called for a meeting of all parties next week to draft an action plan for launching a separate Rayalaseema movement, Venkatesh is planning to hold an all-Rayalaseema public meeting in Kurnool on August 15. In Tirupati a ‘Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samiti’ is being launched on Sunday.

Prof Bhuman of Sri Venkateswara University explained the logic of a separate state. “With the separate Telangana state issue slowly taking shape, people of Andhra region have already started projecting Vijayawada and Guntur as the possible capital for the Andhra State. This is not acceptable to us. We demand that when Telangana is separated, Tirupati should be the capital of Andhra State.
If this is not acceptable, then a separate Rayalaseema should be conceded, he said. All the supporters of Rayalaseema state maintain that they favour separation only if Telangana state is formed.

Suryaprakash Reddy said the issue would be raised as part of Congress Forum to be set up to mobilise support for a separate Rayalaseema. Reddy who is the son of former CM, K.Vijayabhaskar Reddy and is a power to reckon with in Kurnool district, cited support of “public opinion” for his plan to include Nellore and Prakasam districts of coastal Andhra and Bellary district of Karnataka in Rayalaseema state. The inter-state dispute over the Tungabhadra waters with Karnataka could be settled if Bellary was merged with Rayalaseema, he said.

Meanwhile, the state government has said it would consider setting up of regional development boards for the three regions of Telangana, Andhra and Rayalaseema areas to ensure uniform development in each of the regions.

Congress - TRS Row Hots Up

by HH » Fri May 06, 2005 6:42 pm

Congress - TRS Row Hots Up

Karimnagar, May 5: The tremors generated by the verbal duel between the Union Labour Minister and TRS chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and the Congress deputy leader in the Parliament, Mr G. Venkata Swamy, found their echoes in Karimnagar.

The activists owing allegiance to the TRS students’ wing burnt the effigy of Mr Venkata Swamy in the town on Thursday as a sequel to the burning of the effigy of Mr Rao by the Congress activists in Ramagundam on Wednesday.

The latest row has further damaged the already strained relations between the friendly allies Congress and the TRS in the district. The alliance suffered a major jolt earlier when a section of the youth Congress activists ransacked the camp office of Mr Rao in Karimnagar in protest against his remarks on AICC president Ms Sonia Gandhi. The TRS activists also stormed the official quarter of the ZP chairman, Mr K,V. Rajeshwar Rao, in protest against his decision to join the Congress last year.

Meanwhile, the second rung leaders of both the TRS and the Congress traded charges against each other triggering off an intense war of words. Speaking to newsmen, the DCC official spokesman, Mr A. Bhaskar Reddy, alleged that Mr Rao was trying to mislead the people to meet his narrow political gains. It is highly objectionable on the part of Mr Rao to make derogatory remarks on the veteran Congress leader, he said and cautioned that the people would teach him a fitting lesson if he continued to pursue “wicked politics.”

The TRS district vice president, Mr S. Bhaskar Reddy, charged Mr Venkata Swamy with unleashing false propaganda against Mr Rao unable to digest his non-inclusion in the Cabinet. Mr Venkata Swamy would go down in the history as “Telangana betrayer” if he fails to stop the “misinformation campaign,” he warned.

Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam district unit has demanded that the Union Minister for Labour, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, realise his bounden duty to render concrete help to the hailstorm ravaged farmers of the district.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, The TD district official spokesman, Mr E. Shankar Reddy, the vice president, Mr K. Vidyasagar Reddy, and former Karimnagar MLA, Mr K. Devender Rao, alleged that Mr Rao who represents Karimnagar in the Parliament did not even bother to inquire about the plight of the natural calamity-hit farmers of his own constituency. “Mr Rao should at least undertake an aerial survey to witness the hailstorm devastation in the district if he is so busy lobbying for Telangana,” they remarked.

Government Lacks Clarity on Separate Telangana

Government Lacks Clarity on Separate Telangana - Dattatreya

HYDERABAD: The BJP national secretary, B. Dattatreya, has accused the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Government of failing on all fronts and providing `zero governance'.
Releasing at a press conference here on Sunday a statement posing 10 questions to the Chief Minister on the eve of his first anniversary in office, he said the Government had no clear-cut political line on the demand for separate Telangana and in dealing with naxalites.
Both the issues would turn into a major problem for the Government in the near future.

* On Telangana, he charged the Congress and the TRS with trying to confuse people. While Congress leaders maintain that the second SRC would look into the issue, TRS leaders did not subscribe to that view. He wanted the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, to make public any assurance if she had given to the TRS.

Chances of Telangana State Remote

Chances of Telangana State Remote - Ch Vidyasagar Rao : PTI - SATURDAY, APRIL 30, 2005

HYDERABAD: Chances of the formation of a separate state of Telengana were very remote in the present political circumtances in Andhra Pradesh, senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao has said.

"Telangana state can be achieved only through consensus of all the parties, but the way the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders are issuing statements on the subject, it is leading to total confusion," Rao told reporters in Hyderabad on Friday.

"If they (Congress and TRS) are really sincere and want to develop the backward region, efforts should made to implement Girgilani Committee recomendations (on the development of Telangana region)," he said.

Efforts should also be made to bring Godavari river water to every village and effective implementation of Rural Employment Gurantee Scheme, the BJP leader said.

To a question, the former Union Minister said his party is committed to formation of smaller states and "there is no ambiguity on its stand on separate Telangana."

RSP Opposes Telangana : Wednesday, May 11, 2005

NEW DELHI: Division of a State will not solve the problems of backwardness and carving out new states such as Telangana will make them more dependent on the Centre, the Revolutionary Socialist Party has said.

"It is a matter of concern that regional imbalances have been accentuated by not just historical neglect but also by distortion in Plan allocations and Central Government assistance. Per capita allocation is much below in Telangana region," the party told the United Progressive Alliance sub-committee on Telangana.

CPI View

The Communist Party of India will explain its stand on Telangana this week. The party leader, S. Sudhakar Reddy, said the existing view was that either a second states reorganisation commission should be set up to address the issue or a body to correct the regional imbalances in the Telangana region should be created.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has observed that the second States Reorganization Commission (SRC) to look into the demand for Telangana state would be constituted when there is a 'consensus among those who want the state'. He had no knowledge as to when the SRC would become a reality.

Addressing a Meet-the-Press programme organised here today before winding up his Praja Patham tour of the north coastal districts, Rajasekhara Reddy said: "The Congress party is committed to setting up the SRC but I do not known when it will be done."

'No Telangana Reference at Congress Meet'

'No Telangana Reference at Congress Meet' : Monday, May 16, 2005

HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Union Minister, Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, has regretted lack of any reference to the issue of separate Telangana at the much-hyped "Rededication Day" meeting of the Congress Government on Saturday.

At a press conference on Sunday, he recalled that it was on the Telangana plank the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi fought elections together.

He said it was proof that the Congress Government never intended to keep up any of its pre-poll promises.

"It is not a display of punarankitham but only punarvanchitham," he said.

"Was the meeting a party affair or a Government-sponsored show?" he asked, protesting against the way a senior Congressman like G. Venkatswamy was stopped from speaking about Telangana by an IAS officer. This clearly showed lack of decency on stage and the "factional mentality" of the Congress Government led by the Chief Minister, Dr. Reddy, he alleged.

Mr. Rao said if the Government had any sincerity, it should implement the recommendations of the Girglani Commission and render justice to people of Telangana.

‘TRS Taking People For A Ride’ : Srihari Dares KCR for Debat

by HH » Sat May 21, 2005 8:43 pm

‘TRS Taking People For A Ride’ : Monday, May 21, 2005

*
SANGAREDDY: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti leaders are taking people for a ride on the formation of a separate Telangana with their numerous promises day in and day out, Nagam Janardhan Reddy said on Friday.

He addressed the mediapersons after attending the district party committee election meeting as an observer.

He said TRS president and Union Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao who got elected from Karimnagar had made several promises before elections on the improvement of the constituency but now it seems that he had forgotten everything and is happy in New Delhi cooling himself in plush offices. Nagam alleged that Chandrasekhara Rao seems to be turning a blind eye to the plight of the farmers and weavers.

**
Srihari Dares KCR for Debate on Region

KARIMNAGAR, May 20: The Telugu Desam general secretary, Mr Kadiam Srihari, has charged Union Minister for Labour and the TRS president, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, with keeping quiet on the impending danger to the region from the upcoming projects in Maharashtra. Addressing newsmen along with, the party MLA, Mr Sana Maruti, the district president, Mr L. Ramana, and the general secretary Ms Gandra Nalini, here on Friday, Mr Srihari alleged that Mr Rao secured berths for himself and seven others in the Union and State Cabinets in blatant violation of his pre-poll pronouncement that he would not accept any posts till the creation of Telangana.

He dubbed the Congress as the first enemy of Telangana and then entered into an alliance with the same party to grab power, Mr Srihari alleged and lamented that Mr Rao stooped down to the level of mortgaging the self-esteem of Telangana at the feet of AICC president Ms Sonia Gandhi.

He is not speaking a single word on the immoral moves of the Karnataka and Maharashtra governments detrimental to the interests of the State, Mr Srihari alleged and accused Mr Rao of failing to bring the Karimnagar and Medak districts which recorded the lowest rainfall under the National Food Assurance scheme.

He had neither consoled the victimised farmers nor ensured relief to them. The revelations made by Peddapalli MP Mr G. Venkata Swamy have unmasked the “hidden face” of Mr Rao, Mr Srihari alleged and challenged him to join him in a debate to prove who really contributed to the development of Telangana.

Telangana experienced development in the nine- year rule of the TD and we are ready to prove it, he asserted. Mr Rao should explain as to why he has failed to ensure the implementation of the GO 610, he demanded. Mr Srihari demanded that Mr Rao take steps for the development of Telangana.

Vijayashanti Set To Fight For Telangana

by HH » Tue May 31, 2005 8:26 pm

Vijayashanti Set To Fight For Telangana : Tuesday, May 31, 2005

VISAKHAPATNAM: The `Lady Amitabh' of Tollywood (Vijayashanti) seems to be gearing up to play the macho role in real life for Telangana Statehood. And she promises that the showdown is nearing and it will not end in an anti-climax.

In an exclusive interview to The Hindu , she said, "I have quit the Bharatiya Janata Party only to take up the cause of Telangana. My main aim is to make the movement people-centric. So far it was only the leaders' movement. Now I intend taking up the cause to the people directly and see that they agitate and get their State."

On quitting the BJP, Vijayashanti said she had no ill feeling towards the party. "I was happy with the party and also enjoyed a cordial relationship with the leaders, especially with L.K. Advani and A.B. Vajpayee, my political mentors, but what upset me is their keeping mum on the Telangana issue despite knowing the region's plight."

At the same time justifying the BJP's silence on the issue she said, "The BJP has little to say in Andhra as Chandrababu Naidu is its unofficial leader. Both the party and myself could not come out openly as Mr. Naidu believed and advocated a `Samaikhya Andhra'. When the water started flowing over our heads I called it quits."

`Naidu should be honest'

Why was she against `Samaikhya Andhra'? "The theory of `Samaikhya Andhra' does not hold water today. This should have been the agenda from the very beginning. Telangana has been a part of the State since 1956. Then why is it being neglected? Today when people of the region want a separate State for their development, Mr. Naidu is talking of `Samaikhya Andhra' and Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy is talking of a second SRC. If Mr. Naidu is really honest about his `Samaikhya Andhra' then let him promise that he would make a Dalit from the Telangana region as the Chief Minister when his party comes to power. Only then people of the region will accept his theory."

Action plan not ready

On her plan of action, Vijayashanti said: "My agitation is still in its nascent stage. I am yet to formulate a clear plan. To start with I will be meeting a few intellectuals in Hyderabad to know their opinion and then go to the people directly, which will be followed by massive agitations from all quarters. I have no faith in any political party and neither will I associate myself with any one of them be it the Telangana Rashtra Samithi or the Congress."

TDP Takes Umbrage at KCR's Remarks

TDP Takes Umbrage at KCR's Remarks : Wednesday, Jun 01, 2005

Desam leaders resent his remarks on Mahanadu

HYDERABAD: Taking exception to the remarks made by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi president, K. Chandrasekhara Rao, on Mahanadu, the Telugu Desam on Tuesday asked him to "mind his language".

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the TDP general secretaries, K.Srihari, E.Peddi Reddy and M. Renuka said the language used by Mr. Rao lowered the dignity of his position and was tantamount to insulting the people of Telangana. "If he continues to behave in the same vein, people will teach him a befitting lesson," they said.

Accusing Mr. Rao of acting like a "dictator" and adopting "undemocratic methods" with TRS not even having a State executive body, they added that his "intolerant" attitude was not proper.

Describing the criticism levelled by PCC chief K.Keshava Rao as strange, they said Congress had destroyed organisational matters from Delhi to the grass-root level.

`Why ministership?'

Replying to a question on the message sent out by Mahanadu, they said it was made clear that TDP was willing to work with organisations and parties which were committed to secularism.

At a separate press conference, TDP MLAs N. Janardhan Reddy, E. Dayakar Rao and V. Narender Reddy also lashed out at Mr. Rao. They said he did not utter "Telangana" even once during his long stint with TDP and later maintained that he was running an agitation and not a political party. "If that is the case, why did he accept ministership?" they asked.

The TDP unlike TRS held organisational elections at all levels and was fighting for the cause of the poor and the downtrodden, they added.
