Shaolin Kung Fu.

by johnny » Fri Jan 13, 2006 2:07 pm

Hi Guys,

Can anyone direct me to Kung Fu schools in Hyderabad? I could spot only 2 of them till now, and both of them seem to be just teaching some art in the name of Shaolin Kung fu. I am in look out for atleast one authentic Shaolin Kung Fu School.

Please Help.

Abe tuuu Shaolin Kung-Fu seekh ke kya karinga? Mazaak samjha kya??

Goddy be right, as usual...

Do not bother with Karate in Hyderabad, the scene is very bad, and you will probably be doing some Aerobics in the name of Karate.

As far as Shaolin Kung-fu goes, you might find many people/institutes advertising by that name, but I would not think that there are any good schools for that here.

The only two authentic schools I could find were:

1. Golden Dragons (the one that Ycee listed) in Aghapura: For Ninjutsu/nijitsu/jujitsu/Judo/Karate and Kendo. Folks, anyone whoi wants to learn weapon/sword arts, go to Aghapura to this club. It is a very authentic club, and Shihan is a world renowned teacher/practitioner.

2. There is a Goju-kai schools in Secunderabad which is very good. I do not know the name, but the name of the Sensei looked like a parsi name, so you can check out all the batliwala type names.

There are two Kung-fu schools that I liked, one of which practices in Public Gardens almost every day in the morning in black clothes. You may find a lady and two three gents practicing with 'Bo's there, and you can ask them.

I had attended an Open Mixed MA tournament and was very impressed by the skill of the students of a Kung fu school, but could not get the name.

aah...is that "Zareer Patell" by any chance?

the Tai Chi Academy mentioned by yCee is also genuine, but they teach only 'soft' (or non-combative) Tai Chi stressing on fitness exercises (its very effective). AFAIK, no one teaches 'hard' (or combative) Tai Chi in india (its one of the most lethal arts).

This is Chris. I am in Chan Wu School. I have arrived a week ago here. I will stay untill August 15. Traditional forms, weapons, and empty hand forms are taught here, as well as animal forms, hard qigong, taichi (Chen stlyle), fight applications. You can take acrobatics classes and Sanda classes with the Wushu people from the School everyday, as well as Xingyi, Bagua or Wing Chun. The monk name master is Shi Xing Ming, a 32 nd generation wuseng from Shaolin Temple.
Any other questions feel free to ask me ! greetings from China !
