Hyderabad Readers And Writers (HydRAW) is requesting submiss

by HydRAW to Publish Anthologies of Lock » Fri May 15, 2020 4:51 pm

The COVID-19 pandemic and the lock down it brought is causing unforeseen changes to our lives and the way society is organized. The effect is at multiple levels and dimensions: health care, anxiety, friendships, intolerance, buying behavior, education, work, the economy, so on and so forth.

It is a virus that has set forth disruptive change. But then it's not a totally bleak scenario ahead. Everything is lighter when the load is shared. So is pain and struggles for survival.

Each of us has our own stories of how we are dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. How, amidst all the chaos and gloom, we are fighting -- for the indomitable human spirit, fighting with hope and resilience.

HydRAW member Swastyayan Shreyam got the idea of collecting people's experiences in the form of books. All around the world, with the people that she was conversing with, she could sense how everyone is similar when it comes to human emotions and tendencies. So, why not share our experiences in one platform -- it will be an account of this historic period in humanity for future. "Let us all hear each other's stories, and learn from each other. Let us all celebrate being in this together," she says.

In the first week of July, 2020, HydRAW will publish two e-books: one for stories and poetry and the second for essays. Swastyayan will be coordinating and curating these books. The HydRAW core committee consisting of Devika Das, Lavanya Nukavarapu, Sirisha Naidu, Arun G, Swapnil Saurav and Mahboob Hussain will be reviewing the entries and giving their recommendations.

This is a wonderful opportunity to all the creative people out there to give expressions to their thoughts and experiences related to the COVID-19 / lock down impact. Writers can write in any format comfortable to them, a Haiku, a micro tale, a short story or an essay. HydRAW does not want you to hold back any thoughts when it comes to writing.

HydRAW will provide a certificate to each author whose work gets selected, and a free Kindle copy of the anthology. They will also promote the books and the authors on online news platforms.

Commenting on this initiative, Kapil R, Acquisition Editor, Eka Publishers

(http://www.ekapress.org), said, "It is indeed our pleasure to partner with Team HydRAW and be the official publishing partner for their upcoming Anthologies on the theme of Hope. COVID-19 has created a tsunami-like pandemic across the global. Right now, it feels impossible to predict what the world will look like next week, let alone next year; one thing is for sure COVID-19 will transform our daily lives in the long run. The changes in progress — some predictable, others still hard to fathom -- started brewing as soon as

case counts began to escalate in every part of the world. HydRAW team decided to come up with anthologies to capture people's experiences and imagination so to create Hope for this world. It's our pleasure to get associated with HydRAW as a publishing platform and make our humble contribution for a better world for tomorrow. Our association with

HydAW goes long way and I am sure this would be another successful journey for both the teams of Hyd RAW and Eka Publishers."

Writers have to send their entries in English to hydliterati@gmail.com in the Word format. Word count is 2000 max. Emails should have the subject - For Kindle Anthology: Category (Fiction / Non Fiction).

There is no age restriction for the authors, and each author can submit multiple entries, but only 2 in each category will be published. Last date for sending submissions is 20-May-2020.
