Well, Traffic wasn't this bad always. THis is what happens if you elect slime bags as city councillors. No planning or rezoning to adapt to the changing condiitions always results in bottlenecks. The development in and around ameerpet did not happen overnight. i wonder if anybody saw it coming. All those big buildings that came up around the HUDA building...those were hard to miss. I grew up in the area and there were speed limits and footpaths on most roads. they were all gone by the time I finished college......

A lane system is much more manageable with 4 wheelers....Can someone here tell me how they'd manage two wheeler traffic? There's just so many problems with imposing rules on two wheelers esp when people can slink away like that! I think the policemen should be more mobile and paid a little bit more.

Anyone who thinks that Early Morning Traffic in Hyderabad will be Lax or Easily Navigable........are Wrong :x :x :x

I have been facing this since the past 3 weeks and it shows no signs of abating.Every morning, the SR Nagar Crossroads,Maitrivanam Crossroads & Ameerpet Crossroads are Choc-a-bloc with traffic and What's Worse...There's not a Single Traffic cop in Sight :x :x :x

In most cases the culprits are the School Buses and Vans which Move about With an utter disregard for Traffic Rules. Some days ago,The driver of the bus in which I was travelling slammed on the brakes and yelled at the Offending School-Bus Driver :"Redlight nai dikhra kya? (Can't You see the Red Light?)". The Errant School-Bus Driver Shot Back:"School Buses ki Signals enti bey? (Signals are not for School buses) !!!! :? :x

There is a Stretch between SR Nagar Signal and ESI Bus Stop which is really Narrow. It is occupied on both sides by Mattress Makers,Aquariums Wallahs and whatnots!!!!

But the actual problem lies at the Signal Points esp. when there are no Cops. Some ppl don't have tminimum traffic sense at all :x :x

I agree with ya!

I wonder what makes them so impatient that they cant wait for half a minit? its almost as if they take pride in breaking the rule :x

Traffic in Hyderabad

by Hyderabadi » Mon Aug 08, 2005 9:46 pm

Everytime I visit Hyd, its the traffic that I dread the most.

If people from developed countries saw the conditions, they would be repulsed.

If one want to see some humans on wheels behaving like animals, Hyd. is a good location for the observations.

why feel sad abt. that?

I do that regularly and dont care what others do...let the impatient ppl. go ahead...what they do not realise is that most prolly they will have to stop at the next signal...even if they jump this one

Infact...

I have observed that if u stop at a red signal, even though the road is mostly empty, there will be ppl. who follow u simply because u are follwoing the rule...talk abt. herd mentality...this is what motivates me to not jump a signal.

And that's definitely not happening!

This comment explains it in much greater detail, albeit a little humorously. :)

hyd traffic ? its cool :-)

by tcp/ip » Fri Sep 02, 2005 7:28 pm

umm... one thing I felt is, if I can get adjusted to Hyd traffic (by adjustment I mean - taking it as if its all normal), I can survive any where in india, without irritation, BP, tension, ... :-)

and btw, if you are in the age group of 25-30, ask your self this question: " back a few years ago too, Hyd traffic ain't all that great, though not all this bad, but how come I didn't find it so much of a problem then (I bet you didn't)" - the point I am trying to make is, there is a change in Hyd traffic, but there is a chance in us too, and there is definitely we can do something about changing ourself - to help ourself not to land into BP, hiper-tension, etc. :-) -- don't u agree that, this is what you get first if u see Hyd traffic :-)

Here are some practical tips I believe help some of us:

-- avoid crossing the road as much as possible (Eg: if ur auto stopped on the other side of the road to the mall you need to go, pay that extra for auto driver to go all the way front and take a U trun - trust me, this is one of the survival tips - had this been followed, that little school gal would hv been with us today)

-- if you find this disorder is too much, relocate to another city [this is more practical than thinking utopian/ideal that you can do some thing to this problem -if I sound pesimistic, chances are u r far from reality :-). All that pain of relocating perhaps is worth.

-- don't take acco on 2nd level main roads either (leave alone the 1st level main roads). If possible get located in a colony which has dead ends for traffic. Can you see ur loved one crossing the road ?

-- Understand that crossing the road is kinda beyond the skill level of the people in the age group 20-30. Thats the fact.

-- Give your imagination a chance what would be Hyd traffic situation after 5-10 years - assuming it goes like this way, ...well.. perhaps its not jus an assumption :-) - is there some thing that can be done in individual level ?

-- own rugged/sturdy cars not the vulnerable ones [driving Tata Safari would help you keep your BP in control compared to Honda City] - and it might be manly too

fellas, I got to drive, CUL ;)

Today after maybe a long long time, the Ameerpet crossroads were jam-free at 7 PM!!! Of corz the credit goes to the rain and the gobsmackin' traffic jam at punjagutta.

BIOF,there was a huge & I mean HUGE pool of water in front of chermas' as well as at maitrivanam, almost 3-4 feet deep

So much for da MCH's assurances of a free-flowing drainage system
