Your stand on Reservations!!

by Raghav » Thu Apr 24, 2008 11:53 pm

One thing seriously made me depressed and worried is the recent act of providing reservations to OBC.. with this reservations percentage moved to 49.5%... they left it there because they 50% ceiling on it.. thanks to Dr.Ambedkar for foreseeing this possibility...

Your stand on the reservations?? do we need them. If we need them to end social inequalities, why we are not able to do it in the past 60 years??

Current reservations are based on the old statistics.. that means the segment of people who are enjoying the benifits are the next generation to those for whom it was intended.. so is it actually bringing the benifits to those whom it was deserved..

I wonder what is the goverment doing other than implementing reservations to eradicate social inequalities...

Giving benefits to poor no body object, giving reservation on caste basis is right at 50 years back. Now it may be different situation, it system should be changed. I belong to OC (Bharhimn). I have been doing jobs from intermediate (10+1) . My salary at that time was 250 per month. I done various jobs, worked in hotel, fancy stores, part time collection etc, My father had tool lot of loans and used to pay college fee. The point I am telling is College mate belongs to BC, his father has contractor. He used to get I think 4000 stipend and I think some benefit in tuition fee. He used to buy good dresses with that money. Some of my of my relative or really poor. However now we are at very better position. I feel, the money which is spending by Govt is not real going to poor. SOME BODY GOT BENEFIT FROM RESERVATION AT LEAST THEY SHOULD HELP FEW MORE PEOPLE, EXAMPLE MAY BE TELLING TUITIONS TO POOR PEOPLE ETC. WHICH MOST PEOPLE DOESN’T DO. People wants benifits but they not willing to help other in the same caste. Politicians are doing all these because of Votes, if people are more split by caste, religion, region .they can get their weakness. I think Now day’s POLITICAL PARTIES ARE GIVING SEAT (MLA/MP ETC) BASED ON THE STATIC’S OF THE CASTE OR RELIGION in that area. Which should change, fist we should change, help other to change?. Help the real poor people

I feel that Reservation should be given on Economic Standards basis but not on Caste basis. There are many poor people in Upper Castes as well specially Brahmins. There are different organizations to support particular caste people. But there are very few organizations to support poor brahmins.
