http://www.deccan.com, Hyderabad, Nov. 2, 2008: Anti-terror teams of the state and Kerala police have launched the hunt for a suspect identified as Shanu Sattar, a native of Kerala. Police suspects that Sattar is hiding in the city. Sources in the state police claim that Sattar had helped at least 200 terror recruits from Kerala to reach Hyderabad. He had also facilitated their religious training in the city.
Octopus and counter intelligence teams, which visited Kerala to interrogated the accused, have returned to the city with leads and are working on them. Sattar and his associates are suspected to be working for the Lashkar-e-Tayyaba. The commissioner of police, Mr B. Prasada Rao, told this correspondent, "They (Sattar and his associates) had stayed at a madrasa in Pahadi Shareef."
It has already been established that terror suspects Mohammed Fayas and Mohammed Fahis (who were killed in Kashmir encounters) had visited Hyderabad on September 10 along with Sattar. A senior police official said, "So far, we have not found any links with known local terror suspects. If Sattar is arrested, we will get more information on local involvement." He added, "They (the terrorists) have undergone religious training at a dargah in Bandlaguda."
Sattar is also suspected to have close links with one Faisal who was arrested on October 25. "Faisal of Kannur was arrested in the Malabar region. Along with Sattar, he used to bring the suspects to Hyderabad. The module was exposed after the encounter killing of two terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Abdul Jaleel of Kerala was also arrested," said the official. Police is not sure if the suspects are in Hyderabad for shelter or training or to carry out an operation.
