It is primarily due to TWO factors: the illiterates in Indian media and a significant Indian immigrants to US are the \'snake oil sales people - people troubled by truth\' types.
Talk to any family with a doctor here - \'our son or daughter is number one this or number one that in the entire \'East coast region\' or \'midwest region\', or etc. Truth of the matter typically is the person may be \'practising welfare medicine - people who are on government help\' with no special skills.
Now, the samething is happening in the IT tribe. The great majority with third rate education and fourth rate skills, claiming to have become the \'numero uno\' in this area or that area and getting paid fabulously.

Looks like you are bitter sweet person. Any parents feels proud of their chidren\'s profession. They are never going say \"you are a loser even if you are one!!\" Indians in the states are well settled and well respected. Its the sad irony that indians in the US dont get the same respect from fellow indian ameraicans.

I think Indians in the USA generally do good. And that NOT because they are from India but because they work in US. It is the right environment and work culture in US that encourages people to work. That is the reason why so many Indians shine abroad and not in India.

So I guess addressing to Soori\'s point, with the burst in the information around the globe people have become smarter and are more aware of what is happening around them. I think this is the same reason why folks in Hyderabad feel they have better chances outside than in India.

It really depends on how you define doing better! Are the Indians outside India really doing better are they really happy or are they pretending to the world that they do better than Indians in India ?????
I agree with Meenu that it is a real shame that Indians are treated worse by their own !!
The grass on the other side always seems greener!

Mrs/Ms. Prathiba the treatment you receive from your fellow Indian Americans really depends upon you I guess. When someone is not amicable, reserved etc.. why will people care about them, not matter whether they are Americans or Indian Americans. And please don\'t post such kind of messages as it will give a wrong impression for any Indian not living in the US and moreover for a person aspiring to go to the US he will be under the impression that people there and not friendly and it might become a regular practice not to treat his fellow American Indians properly. Thanks. Take care.

Guys! You will do good in the USA (or India) as long as you are NOT doing what the masses are doing. The masses are comparing themselves to themselves and feeling good about it. Most people dont know that US has about a million millionaires and ALL of them are not created by jobs there (which most of us go there for) but by starting businesses as American and all it\'s laws are written for businesses.
